Kenya in a press conference this morning announced plans of setting up a multi-agency command centres in preparation ahead of the August 2017 General Election. The centres are to respond to any violence that may arises during the elections period.
The National Disaster Operations Centre, Nairobi Fire Brigade, county commissioners and St John’s Ambulance are also part of the training dubbed Exercise Dumisha Utulivu.
The Kenyan Election which is scheduled for August this year has witness one of the most embarrassing comments from major political aspirants
during their campaigns.
According to the Interior Cabinet, the exercise is aimed at avoiding situations where the different security agencies act in isolation, leading to confusion and inefficiency as happened during the Westgate and Garissa University terror attacks.
The Interior Cabinet through its Secretary Mr. Joseph in a Press Conference this morning said, “We want to ensure our country remains peaceful before, during and after the elections. We will ensure synergy between all security agencies and stakeholders across the country.”
