14 Illegal Miners Trapped In Ghana

14 illegal miners are reportedly to have been trapped in a mine at Prestea-Nsuta in the Western Region, Ghana.

According to a report by MyJoy, the miners numbering 19, were trapped since Sunday after a heavy downpour. Five of the miners successfully came out. Nsuta District Police Commander, Atsu Dzinaku confi rmed.

It is not clear if the trapped victims are still alive or dead. Rescue efforts are underway to attempt to rescue possible survivors.

Th e police are currently interrogating two out of the five victims who escaped unhurt. Th e collapse is the latest in many mining disasters that have been recorded in the past. It comes at a time government is waging war on illegal mining across the country.
