The organisers of Keeping Marriage Alive Initiative, an annual event to celebrate Nigerians, who have shown exemplary character in their chosen careers, has named the America's Got Talent Star, Kechi Okwuchi as the Role Model of the Year.

Okwuchi, who is 28 years old first appeared on the America Got Talent show early this year which has won her millions of fans all over the world. She has equally attracted praises for her academic exploits in the United States, finishing with a First Class degree from the University of Thomas Houston, Texas.

Kechi is Nigerian, a native of Imo State, who is one of only two survivors of a 2005 plane crash involving a Sosoliso Airline, has undergone more than 100 surgeries on her road to recovery.
The Co-Founder of KMAI, Mrs. Ngozi Okonkwo said, Okwuchi was chosen as recipient of the award because of her amazing singing talents and unwavering determination to make a difference against all odds.
